I do have some recent information and you might find useful in trying to discern which airline you should work for. But mind you all of this info is from the grapevine in short (chismis) but from reputable sources.
I finally got a ball park figure to compare the salaries of FAs in the Philippines.
And due to the recent merging of ZestAir and AirAsia my previous article may have been a little bit outdated. Aside from that I now have a figure in which you can really compare the salaries of the different companies. I have here their confirmed salary scheme by the total figures and not just by the hours.
For Cebu Pacific, I have written the amounts of money that they receive at a certain date in a month. example: 15th, 25th and 30th. The prod pay means the production pay or the flying pay. The prod pay will still depend on the hours you got for the month and will vary from month to month.
Note: the figures are in Philippine pesos
Cebu Pacific
5,500 (half of basic)
20,000++ (prod pay + transpo allowance 200 per day)
5,500 (half of basic)
plus: daily commission from inflight sales, perfect attendance bonus, rice allowance
Estimated total in a month: 40,000.00 (net of taxes)
Air Asia / Zest Air
(basic pay)
senior cabin crew: 20,000
junior cabin crew: 15,000
Transportation allowance: 5,000
(flying rates)
P100 per hour
P250 per leg (1 round of take-off and landing)
plus: daily inflight sales commission
Estimated total in a month:
Philippine-based crew: P55,000 (gross income) P40,000 (net of taxes)
Malaysia-based crew: P60,000 (net of taxes)
Note: Unlike ZestAir who have adapted the same crew salary with Air Asia, Pal did not implement the same changes for Pal Express.
Philipine Airlines (not PalEx)
basic pay: 10,500
transportation allowance: 10,000
per hour flying time: 320 (domestic)
(international flights have another rate)
Domestic Crew: 30,000 (net)
International Crew: 60,000 (net)
As of 2013: Pal cabin crews are now all flying international routes since they have only a few domestic routes left since they have given these local routes to Pal Express.

By the way, pwede po bang mag walk in sa cebu pacific kahit walang hiring or announcement? If yes, one day process lang kaya? Paano po mag apply sa seair? Sa domestic road lang din po ba yun? Another dilemma, im a bit chubby kasi, pero im in normal weight sa height ko. Im around 5'3 lang, may chance kaya ako? Saang airlines kaya yung di strict sa chubby..hahaha.. ReplyDeleteHi sis, thanks for reading! There was a time when cebu pacific hires sa domestic road office nila. That is walk.in, they require 5'3 in height as well as sa pal and pal express 5'3 sa air asia 160 cms. If u go on a walk in interview sa 5j that is not a 1 day process, it may take weeks and months. If you are chubby upon interview if they like you u will still pass and maybe given a conditional status andnu will be advices how much weight you need to loose.. sea air hires via online ang first step.

DeleteI am an RN. after boards call center 2 years. while im still working i kept applying to QR more than 10 time na siguro, then i applied sa local airlines tanggap ako sa PAL and Airphil, i chosed Airphil because of the basing. I did not undergo any trainings. because 1. cant afford it sis 2. did not know about that/ never heard any of that here in cebu 3. i am a research junkie so i researched on how to get the job myself 4. i have a great CAN-Do attitude
i have co-workers who went in and enrolled and now working with me.
My take is, it can be done without the schooling but if you think you need to improve confidence,etc, to help your spirits, then go ahead.. if you can afford it why not?
for me, my personal confidence training was joining beauty contests, modelling and sports.. you might want to try din sis

DeleteThank you for your comment, though i apologize for the late reply, You must have made a decision by now on this matter but id like to answer your questions as best as i can.
I adore male cabin crews. they are very much needed on board. It can be a rewarding career path if you are into the customer service industry because that is like 75% of what we do. If you are flexible and ca get along with others very well it might be the path for you.
However if you would like to have a career that will give you position, rank, higher income you might want to consider flying while you are still young/can afford it. It will require a lot of hardwork to pass as a pilot, it is not a joke and the politics is intense but survivable.
In the end it is you life, neither path is easy, both path can give you free travel. you have to choose what is right for you and what will give you happiness and no regrets in the end

Back in the Phil, My usual week will look like this:
Delete6 days flying and followed by a 2 days off.
lean season: 3 days flying 2 days airport standby 1 day home standby 1 day off
peak season: 6 days flying. day1 5am-1pm, day2 6am-3pm, day3 9am-4pm, day4 2pm-9pm day5 4pm-11pm, day6 off day7 off
this really depends on the airline and the flight schedules, how many sectors you will have in one day or if you will have a hotel stay in between.

I am aspiring to become an FA as well but I still scars and planning to remove it to achieved fairer complexion. Unfortunately, I didn't have the guts to pursue this dream, bec. 1. I was not a HRM or tourism graduate, 2. I have a poor eyesight (I fell in love with books at an early age and would read whenever and wherever I can). As I've read your blog, my dream to be a FA rekindled, and would like to give this profession a shot. I'm 26 yo, female, 5'3", 53kg. I currently work as a restaurant officer (and was then a soft skills trainer), so I'm used to interacting with people from different walks in life. However, don't you think I'm edging as "too old to be a flight attendant" given my age? Hope to hear your thoughts on this. Thanks! :)
ReplyDeleteHi sis, until 28 years old po yung requirement dito sa oman, sa qatar 30 i guess, air asia 35. and 26 is not too old.. trust me.. also if you are baby faced.. even iff you are in your 30s they still hire you. depending on the circumstances.. better try now sis before it is too late:)

Ive been thinking of applying for a FA position but my concern is I have small moles on my face. It doesnt really concern me until I have thought of entering this career. I'm planning to remove a couple of them. I was just thinking if they would allow me to go through the process, then if thats really a concern they could just ask me to have some of them removed later. Concern ba talaga facial moles? Would you recommend me to remove some that are quite noticeable before applying? Ala Patrick garcia moles naman sila haha

ReplyDeletefor no. 1, No, pwede naman kaya lang dapat hindi siya disturbing. it depends sa interviewer na mapupunta sayo.
Deletefor nos 2 and 3. Yes, dapat malinis hands,wrist, elbows and knees. meron akong kilala, sinabihan sya ng "kalamansiin mo muna siko mo saka ka mag apply ulit" ang harsh pero malinis ang hanap nila. :(
lastly, depende sa hinahanap ng airlines. pero once na conversant/fluent ka sa english, okay na yun. pero may bearing talaga pag may alam kang other languages. :)

Graduated BS tourism, but one thing that hinders me in applying as one is my scar in the knee, I was bitten by 3 dogs when I was still young. I am now turning 22, 5 feet and 5 inches tall. 54kg. Mostly, ang hinahanap nila is single, pero if you are the kind of person na hinahanap nila like confident and the like, pwede ka parin even may kid ka na. try lang ng try. :)

I am 27 and ok naman face ko po (di sa pag mamayabang) sabo nga nila makinis naman daw, my height is 5'9" and fair skin. my concern is my age pwd po ba yan or is it late already for a male FA. I have been doing research and PAL lang ata ang tumatanggap ng 27 and above. am i ryt? thanks miss pretty ;-)
ReplyDeletehi, meron kasing age limit yung mga nag aapply. pero once na nakapasok ka for ecxample ng 25. ok na yon. pero not sure kung pwede pa yung 27. try mo na mag apply, wala naman mawawala diba?

ReplyDeleteHi maam,just want to ask..nahinto po ako kc sa pg aaral tourism po course ko kc po nbuntis ako 2nd yr college pa ako ... 2 na po anak ko ngaun,pwede pa po ba ko maging FA kc gusto po mg training ..may pg asa pa po ba...5'5 po height ko...

ReplyDeleteGood pm ate kay! :) i really find your blog informative.pero may gusto pa sana akong e ask. Pwede po bang mag apply as FA kahit hindi pa nakatapos ng college. I am now a 4th year student on my current course. kaso kailangan huminto for some reasons. Anyway, naisipan kong mag FA kasi ito talaga sana yung dream job ko and now im planning na ipupush ko talaga to pero yung qualifications nag hohold back sakin. My height is around 5'2-5'3, weight:120lb(mejo chubby). I have a little birthmark on the posterior part of my leg pero maliit lang naman. And wala pa akong experience sa kahit anong job. May chance kaya akong makapasok? Hoping for your reply or update. God Bless po! :)
